Paramekkavu is one of the largest Bhagavathy temples in Kerala, situated close to the famous Vadakkunnathan temple in Thrissur district. The main deity here is Devi Vaishnavy, an incarnation of Goddess Durga.
It is one of the temples that participates in the Thrissur Pooram, an annual festival held in Vadakkunnathan temple. During the Pooram ceremony, a prominent attraction is the procession of fifteen caparisoned elephants from Paramekkavu to Vadakkunnathan temple.
