Ponkuzhi Sree Rama temple located on the Sulthan Bathery-Mysore road is closely connected to the Indian Epic, Ramayana. The temple, situated in a serene and peaceful atmosphere near the banks of the Ponkuzhi River, is about 4 kms from the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. The main deities worshipped here are Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshmana, and Lord Hanuman. An interesting myth regarding the temple pond is that it was formed by the tears of Sita. The temple structure follows the traditional Kerala style of architecture with tiled roof.
