Bangla House

The 260-year-old Bangla House or Vayapurath Kunnumel Tharavadu located in Thalassery town still retains its heritage charm. This ancestral house also holds strong links with the town’s cricket legacy.

Bangla House is a symbol of architectural splendour, featuring a unique style of construction with wide verandas and exclusive wood carvings. The antique chandeliers, Belgian glass windows, Burma tiles and several other objects displayed in the spacious hall of the first floor throw light on the life and culture of the family through almost three centuries. An art gallery adjacent to the hall is a reservoir of rare records, books and photographs. Its large dining hall has hosted many lunches for famous cricket players and other sports players.
