Pindali Kalari House

Renowned for giving training in Kalaripayattu [ancient marital art that originated in Kerala] to the princes of feudal states, Pindali Kalari is believed to be one among the 64 kalaris [training centres] set up by Lord Parasurama. For the kings of the Kottayam royal dynasty, the ceremony of coronation was not considered complete until the prince received the sword from the Kalari Gurukkal [master].

In those days, there were two arenas for training in Kalaripayattu. For kings, the arena was inside the temple. There was an outer kalari for training the common man. Today, almost 40 students are getting trained at the Pindali Kalari.
