The Aanayoottu at Vadakkumnathan temple in Thrissur district is a unique ritualistic feeding ceremony rooted in the belief of worshipping elephants. The legends say that worshipping and feeding the elephant-faced god Lord Ganesha will eradicate troubles from the devotee’s life. The Aanayoottu is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Karkkadakam (June or July).Â
