Andalur Kavu Theyyam

Magnificent theyyams, dynamic rhythm of percussion instruments, mystifying ambience - Andalur Kavu creates an out-of world aura during its Theyyam festival season.

Andalur Kavu, situated in Dharmadam village of Thalassery, is one of the ancient temples in the North Malabar region of Kerala and is believed to have been built by the Sage Parasurama, the fifth version of Lord Vishnu.

The Kaliyattam performed here is based on the stories of Epic Ramayana. Daivathar Theyyam represents Lord Rama, Bappuran Theyyam represents Lord Hanuman and Angakkaran Theyyam represents Lord Lakshmana.
