Beemapalli Uroos

Legend has it that centuries ago, a pious lady and her son, descendants of Prophet Mohammad himself, visited these shores. Today, the Beemappalli Dargah Shareef is dedicated to Bee Umma, famous for her supernatural powers and kindly heart. The annual ten-day Uroos Festival at Beemappalli is held in their honour to this day, where devotees make an offering of coins in earthen pots (kudams) which are smeared with sandal (Chandanam) paste, in a special ritual called Chandanakkudam.
