Duffmuttu
Duffmuttu is a performing art form popular among the Muslims of north Kerala. Performed both as a ritual and a social entertainment during festivals and nuptial ceremonies this is a group performance with artists beating on a quaint round percussion instrument called the Daffu. While the leader of the group sings, others form the chorus and move in circles beating the daffu rythmically. The songs are often tributes to martyrs, heroes and saints.
