The Elanthoor Padayani


You are watching video of Elanthoor Padayani, one of the most celebrated Padayani festivals in Kerala. Celebrated at Sree Bhagavathikunnu Devi Temple at Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India, this annual padayani (patayani) festival takes place in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (Mid February -Mid March). The festival begins with 'Choottu vaipu' on Bharani asterism and the padayani performance begins on Makariyam asterism and continues for 8 days. On the 8th day, the event is concluded with Valiya Padayani.  

As part of the festival various Padayani kolams are being performed at Elanthoor. Some of them are the kolams of Ganapathi, Bhairavi, Anthara Yakshi, Maya Yakshi, Arakki Yakshi, Pakshi, Yakshi and Siva kolam.
