The waves and rocks of Kappad beach

Kappad beach in Kozhikode, locally known as Kappakadavu, is a popular hangout not only for Kozhikodians but any travellers. One of the interesting features of the landscape of Kappad beach is the sprawling rocky headland that protrudes into the sea, on which rest an 800-year-old-temple. It is the historic beach where Vasco-da-Gama - the Portuguese explorer, landed on the 27th of May 1498.

How to reach Kappad beach?
The beach is located around 20 kms away from Kozhikode town and the nearest major railway station is Koyilandy, about 10 km away from Kappad. Frequent buses are available to Kappad from Kozhikode, Koyilandy and Vadakara.
