A five-day festival of pageantry and splendour, celebrated at the Machattu Thiruvanikavu Temple in Thrissur district, the Machattu Mamangam is a dedication to Goddess Bhagavathy.
The highlights of this festival include traditional percussion music, cultural programmes and the captivating kuthiravela.
The biggest attraction of the festival is the ceremonial procession held on the concluding day in which magnificently decorated kuthirakolams (effigies of horses) are brought to the temple by the devotees as offerings. The huge effigies are welcomed by the people in all pomp and festivity.
