Mandaaram Kadavu Aaraattu

The video shows Mandaaram Kadavu Aaraattu, an important ritual, which also signals the end of the annual Araattupuzha Pooram festivities held at the Araattupuzha Temple in Thrissur district of Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. The ritual is believed to be part of the annual visit made by the deities of neighbhouring temples to the Araattupuzha Temple.

On the concluding day of the festival idols of all participating deities are taken to the nearby Kadavu or bathing ghat on the banks of the Karuvannur River for the Aaraattu or the ceremonial bath. The Kadavu or the bathing ghat where the ceremony takes place is called the Mandaaram Kadavu.
