Naagapada Thali
This video is on the Naagapada Thali, a unique design among gold ornaments that displays the excellent craftsmanship of the goldsmiths of the State of Kerala in India. It is a long chain set with green stones and a pendant shaped like a snake’s hood.
Naagam in Malayalam means ‘snake’ and Padam means ‘hood.’ This traditional jewel with its exquisite design of cobra head is a symbolic tribute to the age-old belief in serpent gods. The normal weight of a Nagapada Thali ranges from 64 to 80 g.
