Screw Pine Crafts

Screw pine is a plant that grows along the banks of rivers and streams. The leaves of these plants are fibrous and have sharp thorns on both edges. Artisans of Kerala use these leaves to make exquisite crafts and articles. Mats, doormats, wall Hangings, bed Mats, baskets are all made with this plant.

An interesting fact is that this 800-year-old craft tradition of God's Own Country is mostly practised by women folks. These natural fibre products are eco-friendly and biodegradable.
