St. Mary's Church, Niranam

It is believed that St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, established the St. Mary's Church, Niranam. Popularly known as Niranam Valiya Pally, the church is one among the 'Ezhara Pallikal' (meaning seven and a half churches) founded by St Thomas.

Niranam Valiya Pally celebrates its annual feast on the 21st of December every year, in memory of St Thomas. The feast of Assumption of St Mary (Vaangipu Perunnaal) is celebrated on 15th August and the feasts of Mar Thoma II and Mar Thoma V are celebrated together on 10th May.
