Varkala

Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram is a favourite beach destination for travellers far and near. With her sun-kissed beaches, clear blue waves and serene atmos, Varkala offers you an out-of-this-world experience. Also known as Papanasam Beach, Varkala is a must-visit destination in Kerala and owns a significant place on the tourism map of India.

Varkala not only holds the picturesque beauty of a tranquil beach but gains a majestic face with its soaring laterite cliffs along the beach. Standing like sentinels overlooking the shimmering waves the cliffs provide a fabulous view of the sea. The vast plateau of the cliffs houses many hotels and restaurants.

Varkala is a major pilgrim destination as well. Sivagiri Mutt, Janardhana Swamy Temple are some popular pilgrim centres here.
