There is a settlement of Tamil Brahmins situated about 7 km from Mananthavady, known as Paingatteri Agraharam. The houses are constructed here in rows adhering to the classic architectural style. The dwellers of this Agraharam are said to have the lineage from those Brahmins who migrated from Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu. They came as the cooks of the royal Kottayam dynasty and later settled in Wayanad.
The rural and quaint ambience at the Agraharam attracts a lot of visitors and they can also see a temple on the premises of the Agraharam.
